The West London club have made a surprise u-turn as regards Tyler Adams move to Stamford Bridge. Frankly, they are most likely to sign one or two defensive midfielders.

Reportedly, Chelsea are negotiating with Leeds United for the American midfielder. And they are ready to play his £20 relegation clause this summer transfer window.

At the same time, the Blues are still in talks with Brighton Albion for Moisés Caicedo. It’s reported that they are now close to reaching an agreement with the Seagulls.

Tyler Adams move to Chelsea have nothing to do with the Ecuadorian youngster. Mauricio Pochettino desires to have more legs in the midfield.

Despite the fact that Chelsea played the 4-2-3-1 formation during their USA pre-season tour. And they were flawless in all their matches.

Mauricio Pochettino is most likely to start the 2023-2024 season with a 4-3-3 on Sunday. Which will be their Premier League opener against Liverpool.

Maybe because of Tyler Adams injury. The West London club have switched their attention to a new defensive midfielder to bolster the squad.

According to The Athletic, Tyler Adams to Chelsea is currently off. The 24-year-old American midfielder was in London, preparing to complete his medical.

However, the West London club no longer wants to sign him. As a result, he will return to Leeds United ahead of the weekend.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player has already undergone his medical at Chelsea. Nevertheless, documents haven’t been signed.

Of course, the Blues are now focused on Moisés Caicedo’s transfer to Stamford Bridge. They are planning to hijack the deal from Liverpool.

Also, Chelsea recently submitted a £48 million proposal to Southampton for Roméo Lavia. Which is close to the Saints asking fee of £50 million.

Of course, Southampton have rejected multiple bids from Liverpool. Because they are hell-bent on getting their asking fee for the 19-year-old Belgian.

The West London club’s fee of £48 million is higher than the Reds. As a result, it looks like a battle between Jurgen Klopp’s side and Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Meanwhile, Southampton haven’t responded to the proposal received from Chelsea. Regardless, Roméo Lavia is closer to Chelsea than moving to Anfield.

Tyler Adams is a solid defensive midfielder. However, it looks like the Blues have made a u-turn to sign Roméo Lavia from Southampton this summer transfer window.

The Blues have been interested in the 19-year-old Belgian for many months. And now, they have finally submitted a £48 million bid to get his signature.

With Roméo Lavia, Mauricio Pochettino is most likely to use the 4-3-3 formation. The Belgian youngster as a lone defensive midfielder.

Meanwhile, Enzo Fernández and Moisés Caicedo will play as a double No.8. Therefore, the Argentine will have enough space to roam in the midfield.

While the Ecuadorian youngster will move back and forth to balance the team’s display. His defensive contribution will help Lavia command the midfield defensively.

There’s no way Chelsea will sign Tyler Adams, Moisés Caicedo, and Roméo Lavia. They are most likely to sign at least two of these defensive midfielders.

Having already submitted a bid to Southampton. It looks like the American midfielder is out of the picture, remaining the Belgian and the Ecuadorian.

The 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder has high potential. It shows enough reasons why Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are interested in him.

The midfield trio of Enzo, Caicedo, and Lavia will help Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea this season. Because the 4-3-3 formation is all about dictating the team’s tempo from the midfield.

Simply put, Chelsea have made a u-turn on Adams. As they have already submitted a bid of £48 million to Southampton for Roméo Lavia.
